    First in China! Anshan Iron and Steel Group's New Product Applied in Multiple Automobile Research Institutes and OEMs

    Recently, Anshan Iron and Steel Group has successfully overcome the industrial production series technical bottlenecks of cobalt-based high-temperature alloy sheet ingots, pioneering the development of GH5188 cobalt-based high-temperature alloy thin sheets with a thickness of 0.5mm and a width of 700-1200mm in China. They have achieved stable mass production, which can replace imports. Currently, this product has been successfully applied in multiple automobile research institutes and OEMs, marking a breakthrough for Anshan Iron and Steel Group in the development of high-end high-temperature alloy new products.


    GH5188 cobalt-based high-temperature alloy has excellent comprehensive mechanical and oxidation resistance properties and is the most extensively used cobalt-based deformable high-temperature alloy suitable for manufacturing engine parts requiring high strength below 980°C and oxidation resistance below 1100°C, with broad market prospects. Due to the significant technical challenges in development, GH5188 cobalt-based high-temperature alloy thin sheets have been heavily reliant on imports.


    In response to urgent domestic demand, Anshan Iron and Steel Group fully leveraged its comprehensive scientific research support platform and production line advantages, establishing a specialized team for new material design and new product development jointly formed by Ansteel Group's Vanadium and Titanium (Steel) Research Institute and Panzhihua Iron and Steel Group. After nearly a year of efforts, they have comprehensively mastered key core control technologies in material special smelting, homogenization, hot rolling, cold rolling, and structure-property regulation, pioneering the development of 0.5mm thick, 700-1200mm wide GH5188 cobalt-based high-temperature alloy thin sheets in China and achieving stable mass production.
